SHBBINF002 Maintain Infection Control Standards

This is a Nationally Recognised & Accredited Course through EZE Training. 

This unit, SHBBINF001 Maintain Infection Control Standards, is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to maintain infection prevention, monitor infection control during skin penetration treatments and review clinic compliance with the applicable state or territory and local council requirements. This unit applies to beauty therapists who work in beauty therapy salons, clinics or cosmetic medical clinics.

STUDENT REQUIREMENTS

  • LLN - As a training provider we are now required by law to assess each student on their language, literacy and numeracy skills (LLN) before they attend training. This allows training providers to cater for every need for every student, and helps each student to achieve their full potential in training.
  • VSN (Victoria Only) - The Victorian Government has legislated and implemented a Victorian Student Number (VSN) for students in Victoria. VSN is assigned by the Department of Education and Training. 
  • USI (Unique Student Identifier) - All students doing nationally recognized training need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). A USI is a reference number made up of numbers and letters. It creates a secure online record of your nationally recognized training that you can access anytime and anywhere, and it’s yours for life. In order to receive a Statement of Attainment when completing your course you will need give us a copy your USI number. Creating a USI is free. To obtain this USI if you don’t already have one please follow the link below: http://www.usi.gov.au/ In order for students (parents, guardians or carers) to create a USI, please make sure you have one form of ID from the list below ready Examples of acceptable forms of ID:
    • Driver’s Licence
    • Medicare Card
    • Australian Passport
    • Visa (with Non-Australian Passport) for international students
    • Birth Certificate (Australian) *please note a Birth Certificate extract is not sufficient
    • Certificate Of Registration By Descent
    • Citizenship Certificate
    • ImmiCard

Some assessments require video evidence of the student performing certain tasks involving cleaning, use of an autoclave and general tasks.

These tasks can be demonstrated or simulated – so do not require an autoclave to complete.

You will also need access to a Support Person- A support person is someone you know or work with that can work with you to complete an observation checklist. This support person will need to have relevant experience in the infection control industry.

Examples of a Support Person: Co-worker, Boss, Manager, Friend with 12 months experience in the industry

You must provide evidence of your Support Person’s qualification and/or experience in this industry with one of both of the following:

– The Support Person is to provide a certified or verified copy of their Statement of Attainment for HLTINF005 Maintain Infection Prevention or SHBBINF001 Maintain Infection Control Standards for Skin Penetration Treatments or the equivalent of this unit (Assessment staff of Eze Training will assist you with the determination of equivalency).

– Evidence of their experience in the industry is to be provided in the form of a resume. The resume should be no older than 12 months and should provide evidence of your currency in the industry for a period of at least 3 year. The industry being referred to is the skin penetration industry.

  1. Multiple choice and short answer assessment questions.
  2. Practical demonstration of skills and knowledge.
  3. Video/ photographic evidence of tasks and skills

  • Comply with infection control regulations and guidelines and related legal obligations. 
  • Monitor hygiene of premises.
  • Maintain infection control for skin penetration treatments. 
  • Sterilise equipment and maintain steriliser
  • Maintain awareness of clinic design for control of infection risks.
